Handmade soap Käsintehty saippua

Ostin kesällä saippuamassaa, punaisen saippuavärin ja mandariinihajusteen, mutta saippuan valmistukseen ehdin vasta tällä viikolla.

I bought the soap making supplies last summer but I finally got around to making the first soaps this week.


Soap mass fragrance dye saippuamassa

Käytin muotteina vanhoja saippuakippoja sekä vanupuikkorasioita. Leikkasin paloja valmiista massasta, sulatin ne mikrossa, lisäsin värin ja hajusteen ja kaadoin muotteihin. Kokeilin ensin marmorointia kaatamalla samaan muottiin värjäämätöntä ja värjättyä massaa, mutta tulos oli aika epäonnistunut, joten kaavin massan pois ja sulatin uudelleen ja tein vain tasavärisiä saippuoita. 

I melted pieces of the soap mass in the microwave oven and added the color and fragrance and poured into molds. I tried marbling at first but it did not turn out well so I just melted those soaps again and made these soaps of even colors.

Seuraavana päivänä poistin kovettuneet saippuat muoteista. Yritin myös piirrellä saippuoihin kuvioita vähän huonolla menestyksellä. Nämä saippuat päätyvät joka tapauksessa joulupaketteihin. Saippuamassaa jäi vielä reilusti jäljelle, joten uusia kokeilujakin on luvassa.

I removed the soaps from the molds the next day. I also tried to carve some pictures on them but the result wasn't that great. But I have a lot of soap mass left so I can keep experimenting.

How to Transfer Sketch onto Painting Surface

As I've mentioned before, I don't usually draw my sketches for paintings straight onto watercolor paper or canvas. I draw the sketch on a separate paper, where it's easier to erase and clean up the outlines and then transfer the finished sketch onto my painting surface. How to Save Leftover Acrylic Paint for Later

A quick tip on how to save acrylic paint for later! If you mix too much acrylic paint or pour too much paint out of the tube, do you know what to do with the leftover paint? If you're planning to continue painting the next day, you can't just leave it, cause acrylic paint will dry by then.
