Painting of Colorful Hands

Muutama viikko sitten aloitin pitkästä aikaa uuden akryylimaalauksen. Inspiraationa toimi yksi Helsinki World Design Capital -postimerkeistä, jotka tilasin jokin aika sitten. Kuva merkistä täällä. Piirsin luonnokset käyttäen omaa kättäni mallina. Sitten siirsin parhaiten onnistuneet leivinpaperin avulla kankaalle ja aloin maalata. Työ on vielä kesken useimpien käsien sekä taustan osalta.

I loved one of the Helsinki World Design Capital stamps so much that I wanted to make my own painting with the same colorful hand theme. I got the stamp with my last stamp order. 

I made several sketches using my own hand as a reference. It was good practice since I've always thought drawing hands is difficult.
I chose the best ones and transferred the outlines onto a canvas.

And started painting with acrylics.
This is how far I've gotten. Most of the hands are still unfinished and the background is pretty empty.

How to Transfer Sketch onto Painting Surface

As I've mentioned before, I don't usually draw my sketches for paintings straight onto watercolor paper or canvas. I draw the sketch on a separate paper, where it's easier to erase and clean up the outlines and then transfer the finished sketch onto my painting surface. How to Save Leftover Acrylic Paint for Later

A quick tip on how to save acrylic paint for later! If you mix too much acrylic paint or pour too much paint out of the tube, do you know what to do with the leftover paint? If you're planning to continue painting the next day, you can't just leave it, cause acrylic paint will dry by then.
