I made a coloring calendar for 2017! Ethnic portraits, fashion and jewellery with patterns and flowers in the background for adults and children to color. The images are the same as in the coloring books/pages already sold in my shop, but they're cropped and I added a few tribal and floral backgrounds. The name of the month is outlined and can be colored in, too. The calendar is an instant download printable so it would work well as a last minute Christmas present. I was looking for DIY Christmas card ideas and came across Christmas coloring cards: coloring pages in postcard size that you can print out, color and use as Christmas cards. I thought it was such a good idea, I had to make some of my own, too. I'll show you how I made these instant download Christmas coloring cards for my Etsy shop. There are 20 designs for you to print, cut and color to make your own Christmas cards . The pictures vary from Christmas clothes to patterns, candy, animals, crafting supplies, decorations, candles and houses to a Christmas tree, a snowman and a girl in winter clothes.

Christmas letters. I sent Christmas mail to a couple of penpals at the end of November. I wrote the letters on Santa Claus copy paper, used Christmassy envelopes made of magazine pages, included handmade matryoshka doll button cards and sealed the envelopes with washi tape. Both penpals got the letter in one envelope and the Christmas card in another, because it was actually cheaper than sending them in the same envelope. One of the letters was a reply to the one below from Hong Kong. My penpal Vincy has taken up nib pen calligraphy and it looks beautiful as you can see. Lähetin joulupostia parille kirjekaverille marraskuun lopussa. Kirjoitin kirjeet joulupukkiaiheiselle kopiopaperille, käytin jouluisia lehtien sivuista tehtyjä kirjekuoria, lähetin mukana maatuska-aiheiset nappijoulukortit ja suljin kuoret washiteipillä. Tänäkin vuonna piti käydä katsomassa Koiramäen Pajutallin joulutunnelmaa. Jouluvalot paloivat Pajutallin pihalla jo marraskuun puolivälissä. Ja myymälä oli täynnä joulukoristeita ja -herkkuja. Pajutallin pihakoristeista suosikkejani olivat alla olevan kuvan pöllöt. Kanilan pupuasukit ja Arvi- ja Otto-possutkin olivat hereillä (katso video ).  We had to visit Doghill's Willow Stable this Christmas season too. They had Christmas lights already on in the middle of November. And the shop was full of Christmas decorations and treats. My favorites of the handmade garden decorations were those owls below. The rabbit house bunny inhabitants and mini pigs were also wide awake (watch the video ).

These Spring flower sugar watercolor paintings turned out pretty nice (some of them anyway) so I decided to make them again with a Christmas theme this time. I, again, painted them with my 4-year-old-niece. For colors we used red, green and blue watercolor with some dots of gold acrylic paint to add a bit of festive sparkle. The paintings are postcard size and could be used as Christmas cards or framed Christmas art decorations. Sugar painting doesn't require any special painting skills, so you can do it with children. I made some Christmas cards with my 4-year-old niece. The mitten idea is from a craft magazine. We used pieces of packaging cardboard (that happened to be red on one side) as the background, scrapping paper and old wrapping paper for the mittens, yarn, washi tape, general glue diluted in water and "Merry Christmas" stickers. Teimme 4-vuotiaan siskontytön kanssa lapasaiheisia joulukortteja. Idea on Ihana-lehden numerosta 4/2013. Käytimme korttipohjina pakkauspahvia, joka sattui olemaan punaista toiselta puolelta ja lapasiin skräppipaperia (Tiimarin vanhoja poistojuttuja edelleen), käytettyä lahjapaperia ja lankaa. Lapaset liimattiin vesi-erikeeper-liuoksella ja koristeluun käytettiin lisäksi washiteippejä ja tarratekstejä.

I've made my mother a paper pearl keychain necklace for Christmas every year since I started making paper pearls. Or at least spruced up an old one. The thing is that, even though I put two varnish coats on the pearls, they don't stay good forever. Especially the ones that are in the neck area of the necklace and have daily contact with skin, will start to deteriorate over time.  Olen tehnyt äidilleni avainketjuna toimivan paperihelmikaulakorun joululahjaksi joka vuosi siitä lähtien, kun aloin valmistaa paperihelmiä. Tai ainakin parannellut aikaisempaa kaulakorua, koska paperihelmet eivät ole ikuisia, vaikka ne päällystää lakalla. Varsinkin niskan alueen helmet, jotka ovat päivittäin kosketuksissa ihon kanssa, kuluvat vuodessa aika pahannäköisiksi. 

  Aioin kasata kaikki antamani askarrellut joululahjat yhteen postaukseen (ja julkaista sen paljon aikaisemmin), mutta koska kuvia oli niin paljon, jaan ne kahteen tai kolmeen postaukseen. Ensimmäisenä on tämä kukka/luonto/eläinaiheinen, koristeltu laatikko, jonka annoin siskontytölle. Sen käyttötarkoitus voisi olla korttien, piirustusten, pikkulahjojen tai lelujen säilytys. Koristeluprosessi oli suunnilleen sama kuin aiemminkin: Aarrelaatikko ja Aarrelaatiokko vol. 2 . Laatikko oli kuitenkin tällä kertaa isompi kopiopaperilaatikko ja leikkasin sen vähän matalammaksi ja löysytin kantta ja teippasin uudelleen muotoonsa. This painting is a modified version of a scenery I see on my way home from the train station. When I saw it on one dark evening, I thought it would make a nice Christmas card design.

Tämän joulun sää on ollut kyllä täydellinen. Olen ihaillut hohtavaa hankea aamulenkeillä koiran kanssa ja käynyt siskon lasten kanssa pulkkamäessä joka päivä. -15°C pakkasetkaan eivät ole haitanneet, olen palannut pulkkamäestä aina hikisenä.  The weather has been perfect this Christmas. Just until a few days before Christmas it was gray and rainy but then the snow landed and hasn't left since (probably will soon though). I've loved taking out the dog in the mornings in the glittering snow. We've gone sliding in the snow everyday with my niece and nephew. Tässä ovat kirjekavereille tänä vuonna lähettämäni joulukortit. Singaporeen ja Hongkongiin lähti Minna Immosen jouluiset kaupunkimaalaukset ja Norjaan, Espanjaan ja Ghanaan omista maalauksistani teettämät kortit. Tilasin kortit Moo.com:ista (koska edellinenkin tilaus onnistui mukavasti, eikä hinta ollut päätä huimaava) ja näytän niistä loputkin myöhemmin. Lisäksi lähetin Venäjälle jouluisen muumikortin ja pari Inge Löökin mummoa swappina.  Here are the Christmas cards I sent to some of my penpals this year. Paketoin lahjat tänä vuonna ruskeaan voimapaperiin ja koristelin paketit lehtileikkeillä ja nauhalla. Nimet kirjoitin suoraan lahjapaperiin kalligrafiatussilla. Kaikki lahjat ovat myös jonkinlaisessa laatikossa, jotta paketointi sujuisi helpommin. Käytin siihen esimerkiksi vanhoja elektroniikkalaatikoita joko sellaisenaan tai sitten sopivan kokoiseksi leikattuna ja taiteltuna. Pienet lahjapaketit sopivat vielä itse tehtyihin lahjakasseihin .  This year I wrapped Christmas presents in brown kraft paper and decorated them with magazine cuttings and string. I wrote the names directly on the wrapping paper with a calligraphy pen. I put all of the presents in boxes to make them easier to wrap. For that I used old electronics boxes, for example, either as they were or cutting and folding them into the correct size and shape. The smallest presents also fit into the handmade gift bags . 

Ajattelin, että tänä vuonna suuren lahjamäärän sijaan olisi kiva tehdä jotain askarteluja siskon lasten (n. 4 v. ja 2 v.) kanssa. Ja valitsin ne muutamat lahjat tämä mielessä. Näiden askartelujen tuloksella ei ole niin väliä, kunhan vaan tehdään jotain erilaista ja hauskaa. Tässä siis muutama idea askarteluista, joita voi tehdä lasten kanssa: I thought that this year, instead a lot of presents, it would be fun to make something with my niece and nephew (they're about 4 and 2 years old). So the few presents I did get them, were bought with this in mind. And with these crafts, the result won't matter, the point is to do something new and fun.  So this is what I'm planning to do with them: 1. Sain pahan flunssan viime viikolla ja käytin muutaman illan joulukorttien askarteluun. Kirjekavereiden kortit olin postittanut jo aiemmin (niistä kuvia ensi viikolla). Tein näitä kortteja kuitenkin aika paljon, joten niitä jää yli ensi vuodellekin. Haluaisin tehdä myös joulumaalauksen, kuten viime vuonna ja teettää siitä kortteja ensi vuodeksi.  I got a bad flu last week and spent a few evenings making Christmas cards. But as usual, I was late with making cards so I had already sent Christmas cards to a few penpals (I'll show pictures of those cards next week). I won't use all of these this year, just a few for family and relatives, so I'll probably send out some of these to penpals next year. I'd also like to paint a Christmas painting like I did a year ago and have some cards printed of that for next year though.  

Olen lähettänyt viime vuosina enimmäkseen kaupasta ostettuja joulukortteja, mutta muutaman kortin ehtii yleensä tehdä itsekin. Tässä viime vuonna tekemäni yksinkertaiset joulukortit. The last years I've mostly sent store bought Christmas cards, but I usually have time to make a few cards myself. Here are the simple Christmas cards I made last year.
