Safe - Pastel Pencil and Soft Pastel Portrait
Pastel pencils and soft pastels on yellow pastel paper. Size A4. October 2012. |
My first portrait with Derwent pastel pencils.
Tein luonnoksen vuosi sitten. Mallina yksi Laila-Jihadin kuvista. Silloin jo oli tarkoituksena tehdä varsinainen työ pastelleilla, mutta taideinnostus taisi lopahtaa juuri niihin aikoihin.
I made the sketch a year ago. It's based on a photo by Laila-Jihad. I already decided then that this would become a pastel portrait but I lost interest in art creation at around that time so I didn't start the actual drawing till now.
I was happy with how precise the pastel pencils were (and that they didn't make a lot of mess like soft pastels) but the colors were not as bright as I had hoped. Especially the white was visible on the yellow paper only when viewed from certain angles. So I continued the piece with soft pastels.
Kasvot pääasiassa pastellikynillä (kuitenkin esimerkiksi valkoiset osat pastelliliidulla) ja kangas taas enimmäkseen pehmeillä pastelliliiduilla.
The face is done mostly with pastel pencils, apart from the white and some other touch-up with soft pastels. And the fabrics are mostly done with soft pastels.
This looks so amazingly beautiful!
