My 4-year-old niece and I made a heart-shaped greeting card for her new little sister. We both decorated our own side of the card. I opted for pink paper on the purple cardstock, paper embossing, white rubber stamp and gold stickers. 

 Tein siskontytön kanssa sydämen muotoisen kortin tämän uudelle pikkusiskolle. Koristelimme kumpikin oman puolen kortista. Käytin violettiin korttiin vaaleanpunaista paperia, lahjapaperista leikattuja kuvia, kohopainantaa, valkoista leimasinta ja kultatarroja.

For my nephew's birthday I made this simple card: diamond shaped magazine cut outs of animal and children's book pictures in the shape of a star on a round, yellow piece of cardstock, like the sun. 

 Siskonpojan aurinkoinen synttärikortti syntyi keltaisesta kartongista ja lastenkirja- ja eläinaiheisista kuvista leikatuista timanttikuvioista.

 Finally, the card below is a birthday card my mother ordered for a relative. I decorated it using washi tape, gold marker and Trio Magic pens. The backside has riddles (+ the answers covered with washi tape). 

 Alla olevan synttärikortin tein äidin tilauksesta sukulaiselle. Koristelin kortin washiteipeillä, kultakynällä ja Trio Magic -tusseilla. Takapuolella on pähkinöitä purtavaksi (+ oikeat vastaukset washiteipin alla).

How to Transfer Sketch onto Painting Surface

As I've mentioned before, I don't usually draw my sketches for paintings straight onto watercolor paper or canvas. I draw the sketch on a separate paper, where it's easier to erase and clean up the outlines and then transfer the finished sketch onto my painting surface. In this  blog post I'll list five different methods to transfer your drawing onto the painting surface. They're all either cheap or completely free. Some require a computer or other technology and some don't. A couple of months before my last birthday, I decided I wanted to start making speed painting videos for You T ube and asked for a tripod for my birthday. My first videos turned out to be travel diaries, because those were a lot easier to film. By now I've also made some DIY tutorial and speed art videos and I thought I'd share how I got started with those by using tools I already had or just cheap or free tools. Do You Have to Prime Cardboard Before Painting?

Do you really need to prime cardboard with gesso before painting? I previously made a blog post about how I prepare cardboard for painting by priming it with gesso and why you might want to do that. This time I'm testing, if you really have to prime it by showing you a comparison of painting on primed and unprimed cardboard with acrylics. Let's see if the primed vs. unprimed cardboard painting results look different or not and whether I'll be contradicting what I wrote in that post.
