Palmitos Park | Gran Canaria

If Puerto de Mogán was the most beautiful place in Gran Canaria, then Palmitos Park was my favorite thing about the trip. The park has both animals and plants. There are parrot, dolphin, birds of prey and exotic birds shows, orchid and butterfly houses and a cactus garden. I also enjoyed the bird cage that you can go into and walk amongst the birds. I have a video clip of that and the shows I mentioned, it's at the bottom of the post. I filmed a stork couple trying to build a nest, for example. One of them got 3 sticks in his beak and dropped them. Then he got them to the tree and dropped them to the ground again. Making a stork nest is pretty difficult. In the birds of prey and exotic bird shows, the birds were flying free. The eagles actually flew so far behind the mountains you couldn't see them anymore. But they came back some minutes later. It seemed like a pretty unconventional "zoo" to me and made you feel like they really treat the animals well.

Jos Puerto de Mogán oli Gran Canarian kaunein paikka, niin Palmitos Park oli kyllä suosikkipaikkani. Puistossa on sekä eläimiä että kasveja. Sieltä löytyy papukaijojen, delfiinien, eksoottisten lintujen ja petolintujen esitykset, orkidea- ja perhostalot sekä kaktuspuutarha. Tykkäsin myös lintuhäkistä, jonka sisälle pääsi kävelemään. Kuvasin esimerkiksi pesää rakentavia haikaroita (video lopussa). Haikara otti kolme keppiä nokkaansa ja tiputti ne maahan. Päästyään lopulta puuhun niiden kanssa, se pudotti ne taas maahan. Haikaran pesän rakentaminen on aika hankalaa... Petolintujen ja eksoottisten lintujen esityksissä linnut todella lensivät vapaina. Kotkat esimerkiksi lensivät niin kauas vuorien taa, ettei niitä enää näkynyt, mutta palasivat kuitenkin takaisin. Palmitos Park oli siis aika epätavallinen "eläintarha" ja sieltä sai kuvan, että eläimiä kohdellaan hyvin.

On a totally different note, I remembered what I missed in the Arguineguín post where I told what went wrong during the trip. So, I was still sick when we visited Pamitos Park and got worse towards the afternoon (we were there almost the whole time it was open 'cause there was so much to see). I had been taking an overdose of lactic acid bacteria pills for a few days to strengthen my stomach. Don't do that! They were just creating a new variation of the problem and I got bad stomach pains. 

Ja sitten jatkoa Arguineguín-postaukselle, jossa kerroin mikä matkalla meni pieleen. Olin siis vielä sairaana, kun kävimme Palmitos Parkissa ja olo paheni iltapäivää ja iltaa kohti niin kuin muinakin päivinä. Olin ottanut yliannoksen maitohappobakteeritabletteja muutamana päivänä vahvistaakseni vatsaani. Huono idea! Sain siitä vain hirveät vatsakivut.
